Game Recap

The Lady Monarchs faced the Lady Pilots in a rematch in the first round of CIF play offs Sat. afternoon. It was a well fought battle between both sides. There were 11 different lead changes in the game. Senior Amber Romero lead the team with 4 goals, 3 draw controls and 11 ground ball controls. Senior Sara Nieto, while playing with an injured finger, had her best game of the season. Sara controlled and dominated the defense with 4 controlled ground balls and 4 interceptions. Yasmin Mendoz had another great game:18 saves ( year total 273!) ground ball controls 5 and interceptions 5. Shout out to a couple of girls we brought up for the game Valeria Torres who scored! Gina Milan who had a crucial check at the end of the game. Lorrian Godoy came in and showed off her speed and won a draw control. The rest of the Lady Monarchs came to play and we just came up short. The ref at the end of the game complimented the team on our play and said that the game could have gone either way and that our athletes and school should be proud of our Girls Lacrosse program and what we have built. Well done Ladies. Coach John and I are so PROUD of YOU ALL!

Kelsey, long known as a standout for the Washington Huskies, was named the AP’s NCAA Player of the Year, and beyond the court, rallied the student body in Seattle around women’s basketball in a way they haven’t ever before:

Her father, Jim Plum still serves as a Ramona High counselor and flew to New York to sit by his daughter’s side.
